This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
"I want to be a busy bee at home when I am away from school." I am coordinating a group of primary teachers that teach in a high poverty community. All of our students receive free breakfast and most receive a free lunch.
We want our students to keep busy learning when they are at home. But how can we provide this as teachers? How can we get our families involved in their children's' learning?
The answer is the "Busy Bee Bags." These bags will be brought home weekly for children and their families to complete. In the bags we would like to include: 2 books, a learning game, flash cards, writing activities, a toy, and the school supplies to finish the activities based on the Illinois Learning Standards.
With your help, we can have these durable backpacks from Lakeshore Learning. We can give our children many more opportunities to learn at home.
