My students need opportunities to use high quality learning materials and literature to continue their learning at home with their families. These materials will enable them to learn through "doing" and will provide families with opportunities to learn, grow, and bond together!

Welcome to our kindergarten classroom where learning is always exciting and opportunities for working hands-on abound! In our classroom family you will find students from all corners of the world representing many cultures, religions, ethnic backgrounds, and family types. We are a diverse group of students who love to learn!

My kinders are excited to be in school and love exploring and learning through the many hands-on activities in the classroom. The families of my students are supportive and want to see their children be successful in school and life. They often ask me for suggestions on ways to help their children, but many of them lack the funds to purchase books, materials, or even the most basic school supplies. Kindergarten students love homework and are eager to have daily assignments, but parents are looking for fun ways to work with their children and not just another worksheet to color, cut & paste, or write on. By providing hands-on materials, families will be able to meet their children's developmental and specific learning needs while having fun and learning!

I have a wonderful start to my lending library of bags, thanks to the generosity of donors here at donorschoose! With these materials & additional materials I will purchase from my own funds and create from scratch, I will be able to create nine new "Hands-on Homework" bags. These bags will have two to four pieces of high quality children's literature and hands-on activities for my Kinderkids & their families to learn with throughout the week. I will include activity suggestions, directions, & book lists for further reading as well as a family journal where families can leave comments, feedback, photos, drawings, & share stories of their experiences with the materials. Each of these backpacks will be centered around a math concept that is studied during the Kindergarten year. These backpacks will help my students continue to learn and reinforce what is taught at school. They will help families find engaging and fun ways to work with their children and will provide quality learning materials to the many families who would not otherwise be able to afford these.

With your help, I will be able to fulfill a long-held dream of creating a high quality lending library of learning materials and literature! Your donation will make a HUGE difference in my students' learning and their retention of important concepts and skills, and just as importantly you will help my families build parenting skills and create quality time and memories that will last a life time.
