Little Readers becoming Great Leaders!

My students need a reliable tape recorder that they will use to practice their fluency in reading. Also, they need several sets of readers that they can enjoy and learn from while at stations in the class. These readers help them with word recognition and context meaning.

I teach a wonderful group of third grade students! Our class is made up primarily of special needs students with learning disabilities.

This year will be the first year our class is full inclusion with the special education department in our school. I am so excited about the challenge of having a balanced classroom (some learning disabilities, some above average gifted). We would like to continue with stations in our room that focus on hands on activities and reading.

I really believe that having all students practice their fluency by reading on tape will help them become a better reader. We hope that by having a quality tape recorder in our room, we will be able to practice this strategy. The class sets of books we are asking for will be great to have in our stations. Not only do these books help with word recognition and comprehension, they also help provide us with the opportunity to read with our friends in a laid back environment.

With your generosity you will make it possible for all of my students (both special needs and regular education students)to ENJOY reading. So many students look at reading as such a chore. Making reading fun and interesting with create a lifelong reader. That is what your donation will create! Thank you!
