Mrs. K. from SC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Show and tell will never be the same again. Students will be able to show and tell a story in a new and dramatic way. Fifth grade students in a low socio-economic area will now have the opportunity to learn and use digital storytelling while researching a topic of interest to them within a language arts and science classroom.
In this new day and age of technology, students need to have skills that will help them be successful in school and in life. Digital storytelling is a great way for students to use technology in a way that interests them. Unfortunately, many of these student are not able to have such technology within their homes and learning these skills at school would be a great start to their future, but there is not enough funding for these types of projects.
Projects such as "Show and Tell a Story", gives students the opportunity to learn how to conduct research on a topic, arrange the information in a sequential order, and write a script. In order to complete such a project, students need access to a digital camera, a memory stick, and DVDs. Students can use the cameras to take pictures of items that may be important to their project and then save them on the memory stick. When the project has been completed, the students will use the DVDs to save their stories on. This project meets many standards that have been established by the department of education. Students will learn how to use reference sources, use writing skills, and learn how to use different types of technology.
Your help on this project will make it possible for these students to use digital technology that they would not otherwise have the opportunity to use. This type of project allows students to have a say so in their project by showing creativity while learning important school and life skills.
