Seeing Chemistry Up Close

My students need a Document Camera to make it easier to for students to see and access the many chemical demonstrations I perform for students.

I teach Honors Chemistry to 10th graders. I like to create interesting lessons with lots of chemical demonstrations. I use PowerPoint technology to create dynamic lessons.

Students love to see the small details of chemistry. Unfortunately material costs have forced us to do many microscale demonstrations. Finding a way to show the small details to students will help them understand and see the chemistry better. Our classrooms are very full and some sit far away from the teacher desk.

I would like to get a Document camera that allows me to show 3D objects projected on a screen and enlarged. I can save the files to a computer and post on-line so students that miss class and others can see what we are doing in our classroom.

By supporting this project you will, for many years, help my students see chemistry up close. Using a document camera is safer, more environmentally friendly (vs having each student perform the demonstration) way to show chemical reactions. They can also be archived online for students that miss class or visit from other schools. I have invested thousands of hours creating highly visual PowerPoint presentations that I share freely with other teachers around the world on my website. Your donation of this piece of technology will allow me to expand the depth of teaching I can do for my students by showing more detail - close-up. This will not only make chemistry more exciting - but also more memorable. Thank you for reading my proposal.
