Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

This is my fifth year teaching second grade, all subjects. My school has 95% free lunch and are title 1.

Most of my students do not have any access to technologies including computers and the Internet. It is a motivating factor for them to work the Internet on the screen themselves. It teaches them more to hear and see the "I Have A Dream" speech then to be told about it. The Internet opens a world of opportunities to their learning in content areas and how to navigate essential technologies.

I need a SmartBoard, projector and the necessary accessories to use in the classroom. As I stated, it is great motivation for students who want to use the Internet for the first time through the SmartBoard technology. It is very empowering when they have access to the Internet and powerful learning tools that they have not had before.

This project is incredibly important to me and my students. It will enable me to bring the world into my classroom and bring them technologies they don't have at home.
