Every student deserves a chance to be a star! I teach 3rd grade at a "Closing the Gap" school in South Carolina. Our school is a language magnet school. The low income student population is growing substantially.
My students are not motivated to read. I introduced reader's theater and plays into my class and they loved them. They were highly motivated and wanted to write plays and perform them for their classmates.
In order to keep the momentum, I would like to get a camcorder to record the students performances. The students can then watch themselves on the "big screen". This will encourage the students that are participating and motivate those who are still struggling.
What student wouldn't want to be the "star"? With your help my students will see themselves being successful and be given confidence in their ability to read, write, and act.
