This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My classroom is a second grade class. We are in a Title 1 school. We are a low income neighborhood. The students have very few books at home and few opportunities to read.
These second grade students are at the age where they want to read. We need to help them be successful by providing the opportunities for them being successful. Nothing is more heartbreaking then to see a student give up because the anthology text is too difficult.
Leveled text will help each of these second grade students meet with success. They will learn to enjoy reading and learning. Leveled text are high interest story with predictable text and likable characters. The students will truly benefit from these books.
