Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
The counselor at the secondary school level assumes a number of roles, all important and potentially critical in affecting a student's future. These roles relate in a major way to academic preparation and planning but they also extend to interpersonal relations, career planning, and work adjustment. In performing these varied roles, the professional commitment of the counselor is directed at promoting the fullest development of each individual student.
In the inner city of Bridgeport Connecticut, a variety of barriers has acted to limit this ideal with respect to minorities. These are reflected in the most recent national education statistics. For example, the high school completion rates for blacks and Hispanics lag far behind those of white students and enrollment of minority students in higher education programs is substantially below that of white students.
The challenge is to provide counseling services that improve and expand the many post-secondary options available for students of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. It is important for students to have resources available that educate and inform them of their opportunities and alternatives after high school.
Here is where you can help make a difference. I am asking on behalf of the students who attend Park City Academy, here in the city of Bridgeport that a donation is made to purchase reference and resource materials that inform, enlighten and explain the options available after high school. Students can have a library of materials to be used to help in their decision making for life after high school. These resources would serve as an invaluable commodity to our school.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation and concern for the youth of our city.
