This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a room full of little mad scientists because they do not have the materials they need in order to experiment and learn!
My students are adventurous and eager to learn.
Most of my students live at or below the poverty line. I do not believe your economic status should dictate the type of education you are exposed to. My students deserve every chance to experience all the wonderful educational resources that are available.
My Project
I am requesting a wide variety of science materials for our classroom. The majority of the materials will allow for hands-on exploration. This project will provide several magnet activities. Learning about magnets is part of our state's course of study. I am also requesting mini greenhouses. Each child will get to plant a seed in his or her greenhouse. The greenhouse is built so that you are able to view all parts of the plant from the roots up. Another part of this project is a butterfly nursery. Can you imagine the excitement of getting to watch the butterfly life cycle in our own classroom?! This project will also provide an age-appropriate microscope for our class as well as magnifying lenses. Finally, this project will provide wonderful science literature to help my students learn about plants, weather, and the five senses.
I believe the materials in this project will lead to a deep and meaningful appreciation of science.
The students will be provided with many opportunities to learn and experiment. Many of these learning experiences are things most of my students would probably not ever get to experience. Please help my little scientists!
