Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Dream BIG and take RISKS!" as Ron Clark always told his kids in real life and in the movie, "The Ron Clark Story". I want my kids to start realizing their dreams and see them thinking and pursuing their ULTIMATE calling in LIFE. One venue where they are expose to FUN Science is Saturday School.

My students are low-income, high-poverty and inner-city kids in the heart of Texas.

They are 5th graders and came from regular public schools where there natural gifts and talents are not so much tapped - much more developed. They have never been taught to really dream big or even see themselves in their FUTURE. They are the most hardworking students I have ever had. They deserve to have a life - a life worthy of supporting to effectuate change in our community, our country and even the world.

My Project

I requested a couple of books on CRIME SOLVING EXPERIMENTS FINGERPRINTS and CRIME SCENE: ULTIMATE GUIDE TO FORENSIC SCIENCE to supplement, develop AND further the inquiring minds and curiosity of my students. While SATURDAY SCHOOL is FUN for my kids, I have also included TIME For Kids, a weekly classroom news magazine that motivates kids to read. As my students experience and learn REAL SCIENCE outside the classroom setting, this magazine also supplements and builds non-fiction literacy skills and helps students become informed and active citizens. The Bottle Rocket Launcher, Lightning Ball, Nasco Basic Electricity Kit I, Snap Circuits Alternative Energy Kit and Energy Conversion Kit will definitely be an integral part and useful materials that will enhance and ground my students to a deeper knowledge and understanding WHY and HOW things work the way they are. My aim is for them to see themselves gearing up for careers towards the fields of science and technology.

YOU are the KEY to make this happen.

You have given to my first project before for CLASS 2018 and it is a huge success all because of YOU. Enhancing and strengthening Saturday School in our school and making it meaningful and a lot of FUN learning will make a drastic change in the lives of our under-served and underprivileged students of Texas. I want my kids to realize that we need more of them to gear up for careers in science - a much neglected field that needed much attention TODAY.
