This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Enlarge the world for us! Do you remember using microscopes in science class? This special microscope that enlarges the slides ensures that all of our students will see what is on the slide!

I teach second grade at a Title I school.

My goal is to continually give my students hands-on experiences that they would not get anywhere else. I have students who speak mostly Spanish and are learning English as a second language. To be able to easily view microscope slides would make science fun and easy for all!

My Project

I plan to put this microscope in a center where students can study the picture easily, draw a picture of what they see, and then write about what they are looking at. This microscope with the large screen will ensure that the entire center group is viewing the slide and understanding what they are looking at. 95% of my class is economically disadvantaged so they don't get a lot of opportunities outside of the classroom to observe slides under microscopes. By having this microscope my students will be highly engaged in ongoing science activities.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime for my students.

By funding this grant you will open doors for my students that would otherwise remain closed. My students are already showing a love for science and this would only help that love grow into a passion for science!
