This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Have you ever had to sit on a cold, hard, tile floor? My class has to do this on a daily basis because we don't have a carpet to sit on. You can help us solve this problem by donating to this project for a new carpet!

I currently have 22 vibrant first graders who are very excited to learn.

They are a great group of students who have created a positive and loving classroom community. We are at a Title I school in an urban neighborhood, and 100% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Most of our school funding goes to curriculum resources and therefore that doesn't leave much for "luxuries" like a carpet to sit on.

My Project

My students will be more comfortable with a carpet in our classroom. It will give them a soft and warm place to sit during reading instruction instead of sitting on the cold, hard tile! It will also give us a place to sit when we buddy read and do other floor based activities. My students would love to sit on a comfortable carpet this school year. They will not feel like they are left out when they visit the other classes and see that they have beautiful carpets. We would really love one! These kids are so excited to learn, and it would be wonderful to give them a comfortable place to do that.

This project will give my students the environment they need to be successful in the classroom.

By helping to fund this project you will be giving these 6 and 7 year old's a place to sit without having to sit directly on the floor. We would be honored to receive your donation and be able to have a beautiful and comfortable carpet in our classroom!
