Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine seeing your teacher (that's me!) play the fiddle, and wanting to learn. YOur teacher has to say: "Sorry, Charlie. No violins in the school." I want to change that!
These kids are like sponges.
If I put any instrument in their little hands, they will learn it. Some of them learn two or three instruments at a time! Guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, glockenspiel - - their thirst for music is infectious. I want to give them the chance to learn an instrument I wish I learned when I was their age: the fiddle.
My Project
These violins are perfect for children, in that they have perfection pegs. Usually, violins have friction pegs, which makes them difficult to tune. These violins stay in tune, which is so much more pleasant on a listener's ears. And on a student's ears! These violins are a little smaller than full-size to make it easier on the younger of our budding orchestra.
Our PS 212 Orchestra is a work in progress.
We are striving to incorporate fiddles, guitars, percussion, keyboards, glockenspiels, and more! Please help us get our orchestra in gear with violins!
