My Students

Do you know a young superstar who’s old enough to begin learning their ABCs and 123s? A budding basketball fan who’s ready to take on the world of reading and hoops? Well I do and Dickie V’s ABCs and 1-2-3s, the first little book in the Dick Vitale Children’s Literacy Initiative, is AWESOME, BABY!

Hi, my name is Ms. G.

and I teach the most wonderful group of special needs Pre-K and Kindergarten students. My goal is to create a "World Class" Early Learning Environment that encourages reading through a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Curriculum. I want to marry the latest book by Dick Vitale which teaches children their basic ABCs and 123s with the Think Bugs Alphabet Curriculum. Think Bugs encourages children to learn their alphabet by building each letter with specialized building blocks and curriculum cards. Now that's AWESOME, BABY!

My Project

Dick Vitale has launched a Children's Literacy Initiative. Vitale's book is a clever addition to the ABCs genre. There are no A is for Apple cliches here. A is for Awesome-of course, and B is for Baby. C is for Cheer, and D is for Dunk. Every page also has a collection of other words that start with that letter. Along the bottom are colorful basketballs to count out the page number. But what really gives the book personality is Dickie V himself. Wacky little illustrations of Vitale dancing, broadcasting, getting an X-ray add humor and humanity. There's an orange button that looks like a basketball. With the press of a finger, Vitale's voice booms, "You're awesome, baby, with a capital A," or "You and me, what a team!"or "You're a superstar, baby!" Paired with Think Bugs ABC Curriculum my students will be able to practice their letters over and over with custom-designed big bricks that make it easy for small children to build their letters in a hands on way...a win-win situation!

Won't you help my students score big with this wonderful new book by Dick Vitale (who is donating all of the proceeds to cancer research) and the Think Bugs Alphabet Curriculum.

We want to learn our ABCs and 123s in a fun hands-on way. Then my students will be able to say, "YOU'RE AWESOME, BABY"!
