This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a biology teacher in a school located in an urban city within North Carolina. The school has been designated as a high-need school.
Biology is a state tested EOC course. Students must score a level III or IV in order to graduate. Teaching at a high-need school with a limited budget has resulted in a lack of supplies. I have the struggles of a limited budget and needing to find a way to motivate my students. My students are not engaged or motivated because this is mandatory course; I need to find a way to join learning and entertainment. Thus, I want to differentiate instruction using games in my classroom.
The games I am asking for will assist my students understand Goal 3 and 4 in the Standard Course of Study. They will have an engaging way to learn about cells, DNA, RNA, and genetics. I am looking for any possible route to encourage my students and ensure their success on the Biology End of Course Exam.
Your help will ensure that my students will understand the the necessary goals to pass the End of Course of exam. In addition, you will show my students that learning and studying can be done in a fun and entertaining manner. Most importantly, you will assist my students and the school move from a low-performing school to a school of excellence.
