This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I serve special education and general education students in a 2nd grade collaborative team teaching classroom. Our students are from a high-need area, and 90% receive free and reduced lunch. Due to the makeup of our classroom, it is essential that our room is organized to promote efficient transitions, and allow for lots of differentiated small-group work (to meet the instructional needs of all of our students).
Currently, our school is working hard to combat the recent budget cuts - however, funds for classroom supplies are limited. My co-teacher and I stretch our salaries to buy needed supplies, but do not have enough furniture to best organize our classroom. What we do have is 20-30 years old, and is not holding up to the wear and tear
The furniture I have requested will help us maximize the space in our classroom, and create a clean, neat learning environment. Due to the mixture of different skill levels in our room, we utilize small-groups often, and a portable easel would allow us to display information to different groups at the same time.
Your help will make it possible for our students to work in a more streamlined environment, where needed books, materials, and teaching supplies are handy, organized, and easy to use. Thank you so much in advance for your much-needed assistance.
