This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Every child deserves the right to explore the world around them. I teach math, science, and social studies to 1st grade students. I teach in a title 1, inner city school where literacy often overshadows science and math.
My students face having limited science materials to complete the essential 5 E's process which is so important in inquiry based learning. Our library also has limited amounts of books that can engage the students in exploring a topic further. Having an exploration table with essential materials will really get my students excited about learning.
An aquarium will give the children a chance to have a class pet and see another example of a living thing. The 5 senses library will help students identify how they use their senses to observe the world around them. The science exploration centers and magnets will give my students a chance to get real hands on experience with materials they may not see in their homes.
Your help will ensure that all students get a quality education. Unfortunately, all schools are not equally funded so there is a lack in some areas. With your help my students do not have to see that lack in their classrooms.
