This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am an inner city public middle school nurse and I am on a nutrition mission! My students need to get beyond their health problems to be able to learn.
As a public school nurse, I do not have a budget that will allow me to buy educational materials and media equipment for the school year. I need nutrition education material and media equipment to empower students to take charge of their health through becoming knowledgeable about nutrition.
I need a TV and DVD so that I can have students watch nutrition and health education information while they are waiting in the nurse's office or in health classes. I currently have to compete with teachers to use the limited media equipment for this purpose. Their teaching projects have priority over my requests. I believe their visits to the nurse's office is a great opportunity to educate them regarding their health needs. This generation of students should learn early how to eat for life.
Students need and look to their school nurse to educate them regarding their health needs. I need tools to get this job done. They are eager to learn but the materials are just not there. I am turning to this resource because I believe donors like you care about making learning possible and fun for our kids.
