This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I'm completing my first year of teaching physical education in a high needs, inner-city school in Chicago. I teach pre-K to 8th grade.
These student have not had PE for several years. My objective is to expose the children to a lifetime of healthy, recreational activities.
I have a total of 470 students this year with an anticipation of nearly 500 next year. I do not have a budget. The students need 4 ping pong table for winter recreation. The resources I seek will allow me to continue to offer more activities to the students, especially during the winter months. I am working to provide improved fine motor skills and the possibility of providing intramural opportunities for all the students.
Your contributions will have a tremendous impact on the children by building self-confidence, development of life-long healthy skills, alternatives to gangs and violence that surround the school. The most exciting of all is arming these children with alternatives in life, and athletic opportunities they would never have in the future.
