My students need gardening tools, seed-starting greenhouses, and seeds for plants that provide natural bug control, can be harvested in the fall, and make green compost.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students attend an urban school and many do not have the opportunity to have their own garden.
Our school is a 21st century school with a student-and community-garden.
Our dream is to have an interactive life science laboratory garden that also supplies organic fresh foods for the salad bar in our cafeteria. My students need to have more outdoor experiences and learn how the plant life cycle and ecosystems relate to their lives.
My Project
We have asked for marigold seeds to provide natural, organic pest control, oat and rye seeds to provide green compost and weed control, and radishes which we can plant at the beginning of the school year and harvest in the fall. The child-sized gardening tools will enable the children to literally dig right in. With help from FEED USA, the children will learn small scale farm-to-table gardening while also integrating their life science classroom curriculum topics.
Working outside in our school garden will help my students become more ecofriendly children who learn to make healthy healthy choices regarding their food choices as well as simple ways to grow food within an urban environment.
