It's time for math mania! I teach 4th grade students in all subject areas. Our school is in a rural area in North Carolina. I focus on differentiated instruction to reach all levels of learners in the classroom.
I would like to improve upon my students math skills through differentiated instruction with hands-on manipulatives. I have seen that our students struggle with the concepts of geometry and algebra. I see they are unmotivated in certain aspects of math.
Students learn better when they do the work, not just hear it. I try to find fun and exciting ways to get concepts across. I want to motivate students to learn the information and I believe hands-on activities help to do this. I try to reach every learner and incorporate every learning style with my lessons, these hands-on manipulatives will help me do so. I chose several math games that will keep students interested in learning as well as improving their math skills. I selected geometry manipulatives because this is a weak area for my students. I know that the manipulatives will help students grasp geometry skills more quickly. I also chose the quiz game to liven up math review in the classroom. I believe the students will get into the game show aspect and will be reviewing math concepts in a fun and exciting way. I chose a lot of supplies that lend to center based learning. I teach a lot of small group lessons as well as student directed centers. These supplies will help aide this center based learning.
With your help we can reach all levels of learners and help them to learn math concepts in a fun, interesting and hands-on way!
