I Do, Therefore I Learn - Help Develop Science Learning

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I teach 6th grade in an urban elementary school in a high-need area. We desperately need science equipment in an empty classroom.
“Science is boring!”
I hear this phrase from students all too often. Despite the use of colorful, informational textbooks, Science is often dreaded by students. Having witnessed the astounding learning opportunities from hands on projects in Science, one can hardly deny the benefit of classroom experiments.
For many students, the scientific concepts are confusing, abstract and out of reach. My students need the practical, reusable Science resources that bring the concepts to life. The purchase of basic Science materials would be a priceless addition to our curriculum, and I am confident the integration of more practical, kinesthetic experiments will inspire the children to follow their dreams of maybe working in Science. In addition, many of the Science resources are transferable into practical activities to reinforce mathematical concepts.
We need so much as our Science resource closet is practically empty! However, I have listed some essential items that can be used repeatedly, from safety goggles to scales, beakers to rocks, funnels, spring scales and a few other items.
I know this is a large request, but every little donation helps us come closer to our goal.
Who knows? Maybe the next great Science inventor is waiting in my classroom for the Science lesson. Please help bring these resources to our class.
