I teach in a high needs public school in Maryland. I teach biology to tenth graders. While I do not have access to the resources that teachers in other districts may, I am doing my best to provide my students with a quality education.
My school does not have very much money to provide supplies for teachers and paper is in high demand. This school year, teachers were provided only one ream of paper. This is barely enough to provide enough copies of my syllabus and introductory survey. I have reached in to my own bank account to purchase paper so that I may supply my students with copies. Unfortunately my financial situation cannot support this for much longer but my students will continue to need paper throughout the school year.
I prefer to use the textbook as little as possible. I find that the textbook is often organized in a way that makes it difficult for students to access content. Students have responded positively to my self-created guides and worksheets. Also, I am a huge advocate of inquiry based learning activities. This type of learning leaves students in need of directions to follow which will lead them to discovering a larger concept. The text does not always support this type of learning, so I am left to create these types of activities. For both of these reasons, I am in need of printer paper.
Your donation would enable me to continue to create student-focused lessons that enable students to access the content being taught. Please be assured that a donation of paper will benefit my students. You will make it possible for me to continue to support my students as best I can.
