This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am currently teaching at a title 1 public school in a third grade class where I teach all subjects.
Our school has very limited exercise and playground equipment for our students. A majority of our playground is broken and rusted making it very unsafe. Since there are limited activities to do at recess students stand around and complain they're bored. It's become very evident in today's society that students have become very obese. I really believe if we give the students fun activities that encourage activity they would participate and become healthier members of society.
I feel that giving these students the chance to engage in these activities would improve their health. Children love competition, trying new things, and being a team. All of these incredible materials would keep the students active and happy. I want the students to be exposed to different types of activity, not just sports. This, team play, concentration, etc. could honestly flow back into the classroom. Students aren’t able to get rid of their wiggles outside and bring them right back in. Hopefully, these active children will become more focused in class.
In order to complete this project we would like to get footballs, frisbees, cones, a kickball, movable bases, jump ropes, and lolly pop paddles. Many of these materials will also help student coordination.
I know I can improve these children’s health and attitude in life. This will help them to become better team players and boost their attention and focus. Healthy students are happy students!
