I am a Dance and Arts Teacher at one of the best schools in East New York, Brooklyn. What makes this school so great is the amazing children that attend P.S./I.S. 202. I taught in 202 for 8 years as a Special Education Teacher until I was given the position of Dance and Arts Teacher of a new Dance Program. I also took on the responsability of planning incentive trips for the 7th and 8th graders in my school. I was not assigned this responsibity but felt the students will benefit from these types of trips that not only teaches them skills but also manages behavior. This also helps all the teachers that try everyday to motivate and teach 7th and 8th graders with behavior problems and envionmental influences that lead to failure in school. Using motivational trips like bowling not only gives the students the academic skills needed to calculate average, mean, median, and also mode of individual scores but also using this trip as a positive outlet to improve social interaction with one another. There are many benefits in planning incentive trips for the students and it pleases me to do so, but, unfortunately due to the low income area where the school is located the students do not have the funds to attend this trip. I am requesting payment for a wonderful day of bowling for the 7th and 8th graders of P.S./I.S. 202 that worked hard to accomplish their goal to attend this all expense paid for trip. Thank you so much for helping the students that need all the help and positive reinforcement given.
