I am a Kindergarten teacher in a very low income neighborhood. While we have a science teacher, he does not have the time or the resources to visit the kindergarten classrooms. In a school of 1,200 children the lower grades often miss out on important areas of learning such as science, art and gym.
The teachers are expected to create their own science curriculum, and are not provided with any materials, science or otherwise. We spend most of our money on essentials such as paper, crayons, pencils, and books.
I am asking for a set of science materials called "Simple Science Exploration Tubs". The set includes a tubs for magnets, insects, sounds, colors, mirrors, and water. Each tub contains materials and instructions for teaching these concepts. Children can practice simple investigations, collect and record information, make comparisons and predictions, and communicate their observations. These are all important skills that play a large role in life long learning.
