Our students face difficulties in many developmental areas. They learn best through hands on materials that appeal to their senses. One of the senses that is appealing is visual and aspects of light.
Our school is located in a rural part of the county and state.
We are a Title 1 school which means that a high percentage of our students come from low income homes. My class is a special needs class of preschoolers. They are between 3 and 5 years old with disabilities. The special needs of our students vary each year but can include students with: autism, developmental delays, behavioral difficulties, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, William's syndrome, hearing impairment, and visual impairment.
My Project
Using the light table will allow for exploration and experimentation. Cause and effect are a huge part of early childhood development and learning. Science for our students allows for predictions and consequences. We are able to manipulate the materials with our hands and this will help our brains process the information and be exposed to new stimuli.
Please take the time to have an impact on these young minds.
Our students are an important part of our school, community, and our society one day. They have a lot to contribute and teach others. Helping us fund this project will empower their learning and allow their brain to develop and learn skills. The will learn through exploring materials on the light table.
