  • A Little Spot of 2nd Grade Feelings

    Funded Jun 1, 2024

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for donors like you. In a world where emotions seem to be at a crisis situation for so many kids, I am happy to have the materials I need to help students learn about and manage their emotions. Your donation of the Little Spots of Feelings book sets has been an exciting, engaging, and fun way to learn how to name, identify, and process the big feelings my second graders feel everyday. We have spent the beginning of the school year learning about expression. We have seen how animals express themselves in a variety of ways and that it is important for us, as humans, to recognize animal feelings because they can't use words like us. Now, we are learning how humans express themselves and there is no better resource than the Little Spot of Feelings books. You also donated a special Celebration Spot stuffy that gets to spend the day with a student when it is their birthday or special day! Again, schools need people like you and I am so grateful that you took the time and money to support MY class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baldridge

  • Restoring the Camas of the Kalapuya Tribe

    Funded Feb 24, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation! Your donation provided the materials we needed to start our Camas Restoration Project. You provided pots, soil, and, of course, Camas Lily bulbs! We started the bulbs in small, biodegradable pots until they sprouted. Once spring came and the sprouts emerged, students worked in small groups to replant them into bigger pots.

Our second grade class is nurturing these small plants to grow into the foundation for our school's Camas Garden. Part of our social studies curriculum is learning the tribal history of our land. We have been reading and learning about the Kalapuya tribe, part of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde here in the Pacific Northwest. Taking an active part in restoring some of the land and resources these tribes have historically relied upon is not only engaging for my students, but gives my students a sense of activism and confidence that they can control their own future.

It is because of you and donors like you that teachers can reach their students in new ways.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baldridge

  • Mailbox Mania!

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Organizing 2nd graders is tough! They are at such a great age, where they can and want to organize their work. The mailboxes you have donated has helped them so much!

The mailboxes are bright, sturdy and spacious. What I love about them, and didn't even know this would be such a lifesaver for me, was that I can divide the mailboxes into 3 separate towers. This allows me to have the mailboxes on 3 different walls, which cuts down on time students spend putting their items into and getting items out of because they don't have to wait for as many students.

Students feel a sense of ownership and independence when it comes to being responsible for their school work. It is all thanks to you! Thank you so much for your generosity! Without donors like you, students would be missing out on everything we want to give them.”

    With gratitude,

  • Flying Into 2nd on Our Magic Classroom Rug

    Funded Jul 17, 2023

I cannot thank you enough for giving my classroom such a special area to work in. Our rainbow rug is a hub for reading, small group work, social emotional needs, and sunshine. Each day my students ask to spend time on the "rainbow rug" because it is a cozy, caring place to learn. It is because of people like you that students can make school more than just a requirement, but something to enjoy.

The other items received by you include table dots, which are dry-erase and let me have a ready and waiting spot to do small group work, reading, and math. The READ sign is making our 2nd grade hallway bright and inspiring! Thank you again for your ongoing generosity. It is needed, appreciated, and loved.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baldridge

  • Let's Get Ready for Reading!

    Funded Oct 18, 2022

I want to start this letter off by saying how truly amazing it is to have people like you, willing to share your generosity with my students, on this earth. Ask you know, schools are in a dire situation most of the time with the funds we need to make education as fulfilling as it can be. But, with people like you, we are able to add to our experiences a little at a time.

You gave my students a whole new reading experience with your donations! We have new book boxes, capable of holding more than just books! They hold our interests, passions, stories, and future. You gave us soft, warm lighting to read by. You gave us a special time of day to set aside everything else and READ.

When my students saw their new book boxes they were ecstatic. They are bright, engaging, functional, and fun! Each student has their name on them and fills them up each Monday with books like Bad Guys, Baby Mouse, The Magic Treehouse, and more nonfiction animals books than I can describe!

Out next steps in our reading journey is to learn about habitats and gardens. We will be planting our own garden as part of the Oregon Forestry Services' Camas Restoration Project. We will learn about the people who stood on this land first and how important they are. We will learn about pollinators and how to design a place for people and animals to thrive.

I know that our new book boxes will be a special place to keep their research, writings, illustrations, and ideas. And it is all thanks to you!”

  • Choo Choo! ESGI Keeps Our Learning On Track!

    Funded Aug 5, 2021

I can't thank you enough for your generous donations to my 2nd grade class. You have allowed me and my students to keep track of their learning data in a complete and efficient way. ESGI has been such an asset, especially during this pandemic.

When I give assessments using ESGI I can keep students and parents in the loop with where their child is in all academics. ESGI is simple enough to not overwhelm students as many other assessments can, and easily utilized to see where my students are and how I can take the next step to help them grow. The flashcards that ESGI provide are real-time assets to students and families.

My class has had so many quarantines this last semester. We have yet to all be in class at the same time. It is exhausting for teachers to try and reach students when attendance changes so much. By using ESGI you donations allow me to meet the students where they are and to help them feel proud of themselves for their progress. It is because of you that I can continue to see growth and help students feel successful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baldridge

  • Learning in Our Laps

    Funded Mar 21, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations! This last year and half have been overwhelming at best. Sometimes impossible. But mostly rewarding. Having my students come back to my classroom in April 2021 was a joy. We had to follow protocols. We couldn't play the way we wanted. We had to find a new way to learn. However, your donation provided my students a sense of autonomy when they entered the classroom. They could sit anywhere and any way. While we did not get every material we asked for due to lack of inventory because of Covid, we did get a lot of materials that made staying in our seats a whole lot more fun!

My students were so happy to be able to use their space how they wanted, and that is all because of you. Without donors who truly care about kids, we couldn't make school be a safe, happy, and inspiring place!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baldridge

  • Kindergarten: From the Classroom to the Living Room!

    Funded Dec 22, 2020

Last Wednesday I was able to give each child in my class new school supplies. They haves scissors, crayons, foam letters to make words, glue, journal, activities calendar, and math manipulatives. My students were so excited. I had several students who are in poverty whose eyes lit up when they got their backpack full of stuff.

The best part of the backpack are the foam letters for making words. Teaching phonics is hard over a screen because they don't have the materials handy to manipulate letters. With your generous donation I can actually have students make words with their letters. The journal is wonderful too. My Kinders are just starting to write. I can't wait to see what they write in them.

You helped me bring the classroom to the living room!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baldridge

  • Seesaw Centers at the Ready!

    Funded Nov 17, 2020

Thank you for this Teachers Pay Teachers gift card. It has been so wonderful to be able to buy already made activities for my students to use on Seesaw. I have not had to spend as much time on the creating of units, and can give more time to helping students. The $100 will go a long way in providing units for my students. These units include literacy and math activities that help my students grow while learning at home. The units are engaging and thoughtfully made. I am so thankful for your generosity so that I can give my students what they need.”
