iLearn with an iPod Touch!
Funded May 5, 2011Please accept my gratitude for the generous donation to fund my classroom project. The iPod touch has created a flurry of excitement among my students. They cannot wait for their turn to "play" on the iPod. Isn't great that their play is helping them gain much needed literacy and math skills.

Our Classroom Library Needs Expanding!
Funded May 5, 2011Thank you for your donation to my project. Our classroom library needed updating with new high interest materials.
The new books have been a big hit! The students are so excited to have books on topics they are interested in and that match their reading level. Many of my students do not have additional reading materials at home so they are now able to check out the new books to read at home in addition to reading them in the classroom.
The buzz of excitement for reading has been created with the new reading materials. Thank you for supporting my project and the literacy growth of my students. ”

Funded Apr 2, 2011I cannot fully express my gratitude of your support for my students. The butterfly kit has been an experience they will never forget. The students have been engaged and excited about learning throughout our project.
When we received the kit, the larva were maybe 1/2 inch long. It was interesting to watch them grow so rapidly. The next two stages, pupa and adult, were just as interesting. My students have learned to use vocabulary words like larva, pupa, chrysalis, proboscis, and many other terms as we watched the caterpillars change into butterflies. We have learned about their body parts and life cycle through this wonderful hands on experience. Since our school year is quickly coming to a close we decided to release our butterflies once we saw what their eggs looked like. It was a memorable experience as every child carefully got to release a butterfly.
With proration in effect, school budgets are very limited. I appreciate your providing an opportunity for my students that they would not have had this year. They will remember the butterflies for years to come.”

Interacting with Interactive Technology!
Funded Feb 26, 2011I want to express my gratitude of your support for my classroom project. It is great to have people partner with me to provide my students with current technology that they would not have had access to.
The interactive games from Lakeshore Learning have provided great learning opportunities for my students. The students are so excited to play the games. It provides them opportunities to work together as teams while also covering key skills in mathematics and reading in an exciting way.
Your support allowed my students to have new interactive games that would not have been available otherwise. Proration has limited school funding to such a degree that this software would have only been a wish and not a realization. Thank you for providing my students with wonderful learning activities.”

Funded Feb 10, 2011I want to express my appreciation of your support in building better readers by providing my students with new sight word centers. The sight word centers have provided students with activities they enjoy while allowing me to differentiate their centers work based on the words they are working with. The students are active and engaged when working with the materials at the sight word center. By building their sight word vocabulary my students are able to become more accurate and fluent in their reading.
The economic recession has drastically cut school budgets and left very limited funding for teachers to purchase supplies like the one you provided. Your donation made a difference in my students' education. Thank you for sharing my vision and supporting education”

Funded Feb 10, 2011I want to express my appreciation of your support in helping create a meaningful writing center in my classroom. My students are so excited to go to the writing center, and even ask to go when it isn't their turn. The have enjoyed being creative with the story starters and stamps. When we have free choice centers, I have to limit how many students can go because so many want to spend time in creative writing.
Not only are my students motivated about writing, but they are also organized. In my nine years of teaching I have never had a writing center that stays as neat and organized as this one. The organizer has made it easy to keep clean and allowed my students to be completely independent in organizing the center.

Funded Jan 29, 2011I want to express my appreciation of your generosity toward my classroom. The cassette and CD players you donated have made an impact during our learning centers. My students have used them to listen to audio stories and follow along in the book. They have been excited to go to learning centers and listen to different books each day. Yesterday, I heard one student reading out loud as she was listening. Not only are the students excited and motivated with the new materials, but they are also learning how to become fluent readers.
With proration in effect in our state funds are limited to purchase much needed supplies. Your donation helped fill a gap to provide resources we would not have had. Thank you for caring about children and education. ”
