Fall Snacks for All
Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you so much for the donations that helped to bring snacks into my classroom! We have thoroughly enjoyed having a daily snack while doing our hybrid schooling. I don't know about you, but snacks bring me comfort and my students feel the same way! With all the uncertainty and stress going on in the world, it is so nice to have a consistent schedule and a snack time each day. Working on an empty stomach with the stresses of online and in person school among a pandemic is hard. Your donations have allowed for me to take away one stress and worry from my students.
Again, thank you so much for providing the funds that brought snacks to my students!”

Funded Oct 9, 2020WOW! Thank you SO much for this funds to make this project possible. I cannot stress enough how much this excess screen time is affected our students. Being able to send each student home with 20 high quality and interest books has made such a difference. While we have access to great books digitally, nothing quite compares to holding a book in your hands. Thank you for understanding the importance of this for my students! They now have books in their home that they can keep and hopefully develop a deeper love for reading!
Again, thank you so much for putting books in the hands of my students!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Travelers and 2 other donors. We Can Excel With IXL!
Funded Sep 7, 2020Thank you so much for the donations that made this project possible! Our teachers in kindergarten through fifth grade have attended trainings to better use this technology to enhance our students' learning. We have been using this to differentiate our teaching so that all students are getting practice in the skills that will help them to grow. Our students are motivated to earn their "medals" and to show a growth mindset in math and reading.
Thank you so much for helping us to bring this excellent technology platform to all of our students whether they are at home or in person. We appreciate you!”

Backyard Biology From Our Homes!
Funded Sep 7, 2020Thank you so much for your donations that made this project possible. We had a wonderful virtual assembly with Discovery Place last week. Our students learned all about the ecosystem in their own backyard. They were able to see animals and plants as well! Even though this event took place via Zoom, our students were engaged and asked many questions to the presenters. I think that the most important take away from this assembly was that it peaked our students' interest in the scientific world around them and they had fun!
Again, thank you so much for making this project happen for our kindergarten through fifth grade students! Everything helps in these times!”

Dissecting Our Knowledge
Funded Oct 22, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations that provided my class with materials for dissections. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our school is closed through the end of the year. At this time, I am working hard to teach my students all about the human body online and I sure wish I was able to conduct the dissection with my students. This project included everything I needed to do an awesome guided dissection of frogs and I wish more than anything I could do that with my students. Thankfully technology has so many tools that I can use to teach this skill online. I am looking forward to being able to do this dissection with my 5th graders next year! Again, thank you for supplying us with the needed materials for this hands on activity. It will not go to waste- just on hold for now!”

Dreaming of Gardens
Funded Mar 2, 2020Thank you so much for your donations to help us create a garden at our school. Before unexpectedly having to leave the school building, our students had begun crafting the sign we were planning to hang outside the garden. They were so excited seeing the materials come in. Unfortunately, we will not be able to build our garden this year as schools are closed through the end of the year. On the bright-side, all the materials you made possible will be waiting for us when we get back! It is never too late to start building a garden! As soon as we can get into the building with our students we will be planting our garden.
Again, I thank you for making this possible.”

I've Got the Magic in Me!
Funded Jul 29, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations that made this trip a success! Our 3rd through 5th grade students enjoyed their field trip to see Akeelah and the Bee today! Everything about the trip was a success. Most importantly- all of our students were able to partake in this trip regardless of their financial situation.
During the play, our students were highly engaged in this play. They were laughing along with the characters, shouting out remarks along with the cast, and could not keep their eyes off what was going to happen next. We were able to sit in the front section for this play which was such an experience for us all! At the end of the show, one of the actors even complimented my students.
Leading up to this trip, our class read the book Akeelah and the Bee. We have been deeply engaged in the novel eager to read the next page. It was such a marvelous thing to see this book come to life on the stage. Throughout the show, I would hear the quiet whispers of students referring to things that they remembered from the book. They clearly were paying attention when they were able to point out the similarities and differences between the two. As we continue in our reading instruction, we will be discussing the theme of this play/novel. Identifying theme has been an area our students have difficulty in. However, when briefly discussing the theme of this play our students had no problem at all. Thank you again for providing our students with a memorable learning experience!”

We Are Family...I've Got All My Learning With Me
Funded Dec 13, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations that provided us with take home learning kits! The students are so excited to be able to take some fun learning activities home. On Fridays, each student will be able to take home one of the kits (either math, reading, or science). The students will have the kits for a week at home. As soon as they return one kit, another will get to go home!
My students are really excited to get something fun to practice with their families. Oftentimes, their parents ask how they can help at home. Many of the resources I had to send home were various websites and additional practice worksheets. While these can be effective, the kits gained from this project are so much more engaging.
As we move towards the end of the year, I am excited to be able to extend learning at home. I know that with the help of these kits my students will be ready to move on to middle school next year. Again, thank you so much for making it possible for our learning to continue even outside the walls of the classroom!”

Working Hard for Rewards!
Funded Oct 22, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations that have made it possible for us to celebrate the successes of our students! Now that we have the materials we are busy planing how to implement them in our school. We have planned to use these for our end of quarter behavior celebrations, end of quarter house celebrations, and evening family involvement nights. They have all been added to the calendar!
When I let the students know all of the things we have in our "fun closet" to be used at celebrations they were overjoyed! I heard a lot of students say "when do we get to use it?!" You can tell that they appreciate the work and the donations put forth in helping them to celebrate their successes.
Thank you again for making all of the above a possibility. Our students deserve the best and we can tell that you agree with us on this matter! I hope you know that you are appreciated at our school!”

Houses...I'm Sold!
Funded Sep 22, 2019Thank you so much for your donations that made it possible to provide house shirts for each of our students and staff members. The house pride is STRONG at our school right now. We started the year off strong with bi-weekly house meetings, spirit celebrations, and house point celebrations.
At the beginning of the year we were able to tell students that they would get a brand new shirt to represent their house and they were so excited. But we told them that first they would have to design the shirt and they lost it! When we revealed the winning design on their shirts, they were ecstatic. Our graphic designer took pieces from multiple student designs to wrap it all together in something that truly represented the house.
Our house system has helped to create an amazing culture of caring at our school. We are so excited to continue this system for years and years. Thank you for bringing a little more pride into our everyday houses!”

Ms. Locke
