  • Help Us Play. Indoor Recess Activities for 3rd Grade.

    Funded Nov 13, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting this major project for my school. Because of the amazing help from people like you, we were able to give all 6 classes in 3rd grade (approximately 150 students) toys to play with during indoor recess.

They were so excited to receive these materials that allowed them to truly enjoy their indoor recess. Uno was a huge hit with my class, and they would even ask to break it out to play during our Fun Fridays as well. Legos were another constantly played with, and they turned a shelf behind my desk into the shrine for their Lego creations. It is because of you, that they were able to express their creativity, work cooperatively, and build relationships around play items.

Thankfully, many of these items aren't consumables, meaning that their life will continue through this new upcoming school year, allowing another group of students to experience the same joy. I can't wait to find out what their favorites are!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jenks

  • Light It Up Sensory Style!

    Funded Sep 1, 2019

My students have been absolutely loving the new light table! We are able to use a variety of materials from the classroom with it, like magnet blocks, colored translucent builders and different sensory materials in the tray! One of our favorite features of the table is the ability to make the colored lights fade in and out! It isn't just a white light table! It changes to red, blue, green as well as has a flash, strobe and smooth feature which changes how the lights show through! It is very fun and exciting.

The students were in class when the materials arrived. We were all so excited, I put the table together while they were eating snack so they could use it right away! They especially liked the pink and yellow tiny beads used with the red lights to make lava! It's wonderful to have multi-sensory options for exploration in the classroom!

Next steps for the classroom are a bigger scale project. Many of the classrooms in our building are equipped with a smart board or projector that can be hooked up to a computer or Ipad. We would really like to be able to have one in our classroom too. My project is already up and looking for donors!

Thank you for your support of my classroom! It is amazing to have support from donors and the option to use Donors Choose!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Macsata
