  • Motivating the Masses

    Funded Nov 5, 2019

Thank you so much for your support and believing in our classroom! The students will really benefit from all these items in so many ways. Donors like you make it possible for me to do my job effectively. Thank you for your contribution and making the world a better place!”

  • Crazy for Coding!

    Funded Apr 2, 2018

Before Botley was delivered none of my students had any experience with coding. It was an exciting experience for all of us. We learned patience with each other and how to plan for failures and successes.

My students were given an advantage to others as they entered middle school because there are clubs available for them and they were excited to share their knowledge of coding and planning. We would map out Botley's path and then compare results and then plan again if something did not match. It was exciting to see their enthusiasm with these beginning steps into coding and collaboration.

I can say that there were as many girls as boys that shared in this opportunity and that is exciting. It showed them that girls as well as boys can grow and participate in this realm of science.”

    With gratitude,

  • STEM=Wired and Ready for the Future!

    Funded Aug 4, 2016

STEM learning is so exciting to students and teachers alike. The kits that I received have brought a new energy to the group and they are having fun learning! I am so thrilled to have this opportunity to bring real-world learning on to this campus.

The greatest part about STEM learning is how they begin to make connections to things that are going on in the world around them. They are not only using new vocabulary, but they are using it in context with the challenge of the day and it makes sense. They are able to explain it, which is awesome because that is real learning.

These students are so excited to have this opportunity since this is the only classroom in the school with these kits. Other teachers are seeing the excitement in the students, the real-world problem solving that goes on when things go wrong and the conversations that are had about what they are doing and are ready to jump on board! Here's to "Wired and Ready for the Future" , we will be ready!”

  • Ready for the Rug

    Funded Feb 27, 2015

The "Ready for the Rug" project has impacted my students more than I ever imagined. They were so excited when the items arrived! The rug was larger than I thought and accommodates more than 15 fifth graders with room to spare! The bean bags are amazing! They are top quality and I can see them lasting for a long time.

The rug allows us to come together as a class and have discussions about our books as a whole group or in small circles. It is amazing how something as simple as a rug change the whole atmosphere of a room. It has become a special place to meet and get comfortable while we grow as readers. The bean bags allow for the students to move to a quiet place to get lost in their books or meet with a partner for a chat.

These items have boosted my teaching by providing a space "just for us". It has been something that my students have never experience as intermediate-age students and I can tell that they feel it is a positive addition to our classroom. I am so thankful for all of your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Liddell

My students are generally struggling readers who need a lot of exposure to books. Even though our school is 89% economically disadvantaged, it does not mean they are not thirsty for knowledge. I have been growing my classroom library with a variety of genres and we have been reading and sharing with each other more and more.
