  • Teaching Children Financial Literacy

    Funded Nov 21, 2012

    Thank you so much for your generous gifts to our project! My students are all enjoying the games and workbooks! My students are smart and so hard working, with the help of your gift, I am able to teach them about financial literacy and push them to be better students.

    Not only are my children enjoying playing the games, but they are understanding what a checkbook is, a credit card, and how important it is to understand these things. We have implemented a "class store" where they have to earn money and then choose how they spend it. The workbooks we received from this project provided my students with the appropriate tools to do this. This project will also influence my future classes by incorporating the play money into our daily math lessons and being able to identify coins easily.

  • Sights & Sounds Make The Class Abound

    I want to say thank you so much for the incredible donations that provided my classroom with our Lights & Sounds project. This project included speakers, a cd/ipod player, and a printer.

    This project has done so many wonderful things in our classroom. As part of our reading curriculum I do the Daily 5 for reading. One of our days is listening to the story. Before this project was funded, this day was omitted because we didn't have a way to listen to the story so the whole class could hear. However, now we are able to listen to the story because of our CD/Ipod player & speakers.

    One of the most important aspects of this project was the printer. This printer has allowed me to differentiate instruction because I'm able to print worksheets in the classroom. It has allowed me to spend less time in the computer lab printing worksheets, and more time creating fun activities for my students.

  • Needing Books to Create a Better Literacy Environment

    I just want to say Thank You so much for the wonderful donations to our literacy project! It has impacted my students in so many, wonderful ways. I have students who love to read now because they are able to listen to the books and follow along at their speed. I also have students who love to be challenged, and are being so by the set of 4th grade books that were provided by YOU! Lastly, my class library is now more organized because of the bins that your money went towards. My students no longer have to spend 15 minutes looking for the book they want. They can easily see the titles and quickly choose by genre as well. Once again thank you so much for making my classroom a better literacy environment.”

My students are in third grade and attend a charter school. My class has 13 boys and 13 girls who all get along with each other. They are so funny I have to turn away so they don't see me laugh. They are kind, caring and always putting forth their best effort. They love to read and listen to read-alouds and are excellent at making connections.
