There's Power in Math Game Play
Funded Jan 24, 2015I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in providing motivating math materials for my students. They were thrilled each time a new tool was introduced and eagerly awaited the game play that followed. They learned various ways materials such as dominoes, decks of cards, dice, and giant number lines can be used, not only to have fun, but to learn and reinforce important mathematical concepts.
Students took pride in using the materials themselves as well as ensuring that they can be used for years to come. Much pride and care was taken. In the words of one student, "If we take care of them, other kids can love them like we do!"
Most importantly, students understand the power of math and the importance of developing a strong foundation that will serve them well in life. Math game play is one way to help instill that important sense of power!
Your support is invaluable and greatly appreciated. We give you our heartfelt thanks.”

Mentoring Writing with Picture Books
Funded Sep 7, 2013We cannot thank you enough! The students were thrilled when oodles of wonderful picture books arrived in our classroom. We were off and running right away! The first book we enjoyed was Author: A True Story by Helen Lester. This text served as both motivation and inspiration as students began to think about themselves as authors.
The picture books you helped purchase will be used this year and for many years to come. Each text will serve as a mentor to student writers; a splendid example of an author's craft. Through these rich texts, students will be exposed to the many possibilities that await in their own writing.
Your generosity and dedication to education are greatly appreciated!”

Math: Seeing and Doing is Believing!
Funded Jun 6, 2012Wow!! What an difference the materials you have helped purchase are making! The math tools and/or materials are being used DAILY!
The tools and materials purchased have helped students understand mathematical concepts in a way that makes sense as they make meaningful connections and ask themselves "Why?" something is the way it is. Furthermore, they have helped students visualize addition strategies and build a strong foundation in place value. Students have learned how important anchoring five and ten are in our number system, and this has helped them apply strategies to greater numbers and in multiple situations.
Thinking is at the center of all that we do, and you have truly helped to equip students with the power and confidence they need to be successful.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Masters
We Live in a Digital Age!
Funded Oct 27, 2010I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks for your generosity in purchasing a student computer workstation for use in the classroom. Having a student computer in the classroom, connected to the Internet and equipped with current software and Windows 7, has made technology use, directly related to student learning, both purposeful and convenient.
Students have utilized the new workstation for researching, project creation, literacy station work, accessing our district's learning weblinks, literature blogging, and more. Through these experiences, you have helped prepare students for the digital age they live in.
Your dedication to the education of this nation's young people is to be commended!
