  • Specialty Art Supplies for Studio Art

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

These art supplies will make such a difference for my students. We've already used the metallic Sharpies and fine tip Sharpies for their drawings and the light box for making their Art Career projects. We have many more lessons throughout the year that will utilize the special Sharpies and acetate for printmaking in future. It's always so interesting to see what they come up with. The flower still-life photo by one of my 9th graders turned out so beautiful I will be using it as thank you note. I brought in flowers from my garden for the students to draw and was so impressed by their talent!! I hope you enjoy seeing a few student examples below.

If it wasn't for the generous donations of kind people like you and DonorsChoose I would have a hard time planning awesome art lessons for my students.

Thank you again for helping my students have the art materials they need to be as successful as possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mayville

  • Shamrocks Digital Photo Class

    Funded Oct 26, 2018

These photography items have been much needed for our class. We are already putting them to good use! Students were able to safely pack up their cameras in the bags to take them home over Thanksgiving vacation. Every camera now has a lens cap! Hooray! The SD card readers were so helpful since now more students can upload their images at a time and not have to wait. We will also have more than enough camera cleaner to last the whole year and keep the school equipment clean. The students were really surprised when I told them about these donations and happily opened up the boxes when they were delivered!

    We greatly appreciate your donations.”

  • Design Tube Sculptures

    Funded Dec 31, 2017

If it wasn't for the generous donations of kind people like you and DonorsChoose I would have a hard time planning awesome art lessons for my students. Sculpture lessons are such an important learning skill for students and this Design Tube Sculpture lessons is a favorite. The materials are simple but you can image they run out fast!! The 7th graders were so amazed when I opened up the box and showed them all the new art materials that were donated. With the new marking period approaching these materials will be greatly needed since I was all out of glue! The photos I've uploaded are from the last group of 7th graders who just completed this lesson for 2nd marking period. It's always so interesting to see what they come up with. Thank you very much from all of us!”

  • The Most Needed Supplies For Our Middle School Art Room

    Funded Aug 5, 2017

It was so cute to see the faces of my students in each class when I showed them all the new art supplies that were donated. They were surprised that the school didn't buy all of them. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. The students are very thankful!

The art supplies will make such a difference for my students. We've already used the masking tape for tracing the final drawings in 7th grade, the paint brushes were used at a family painting night, and the Sharpies on the 7th and 8th grade art projects. The 8th graders used watercolors on their poster and the 6th graders are very excited to use the new watercolor paints.

Thank you again for helping my students have the art materials they need to be as successful as possible.”

  • "Every Child is an Artist!" -Picasso

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

Thank you so much for the art materials! The Studio Art students were very excited to make the masks. The mask forms were so helpful. As you can see there are some talented kids!! Some of them are giving their masks to younger family members, others are hanging them on their walls or using them as an actual mask.

We have also used the Sharpies on a few lessons. They run out pretty fast when you have so many students using them, so having an extra supply this year will be appreciated!

When I told the students that people, who didn't even know us personally, donated these art supplies to our art room they were surprised and thankful. "Wow! They must really like art." One student said. All of your generosity has made an impact on my students.”

  • Clay Tools and Glaze

    Funded Aug 26, 2015

Ceramics in Studio Art class is one the favorite projects the students make during the school year. It's something that the student looks forward to because it is not like any other project. Students are building and sculpting with their hands and learning about 3-D form. They learned about traditional Iroquois pottery and the history behind it. As well as basic clay building techniques: pinch pots, coils, and slab.

We have a kiln and clay but needed glaze to finish their ceramic project complete. The extra tools were also needed since I only had a few. This activity will allow students to make something very special to them that they can keep forever.”

  • Painting Supplies

    Funded Oct 20, 2015

The middle school students from Salmon River would like to thank you for your donation. The students were very excited to see the new brushes, watercolors, and palettes. It's amazing how fast watercolor paints get used up when an entire 6th grade class paints. The students are having a great time painting and I should now have enough so everyone gets the opportunity to use watercolors. The seventh grade students LOVE mixing their own painting on the palettes and making new colors. They have learned about mixing primary colors to make secondary, as well as, mixing white to make the color lighter.

There are around 124 sixth graders and 140 seventh graders who rotate through my art room. All of them will have the opportunity to paint this year because of your generosity. Many of them say that painting is their favorite! We very much appreciate your donation.”

  • Drawing and Painting

    Funded Oct 7, 2015

The Salmon River middle school students would like to extend our gratitude for your donations. When we received the new art materials they were so excited and wanted to use them right away! I was running out of color pencils and didn't have many colors so this greatly helped. I'm also now teaching a watercolor landscape lesson which I was not able to teach since I did not have any watercolor paints. As you can see they did a wonderful job!

Giving these students the opportunity to try new art materials and express themselves creatively is a learning experience that I love to share with my middle schoolers. We thank you for your donation as it was very much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mayville
