Jimmy Fallon & Stephen Colbert recently announced that they've become Best Friends Forever (for Six Months) and are generously donating each others' time & money to DonorsChoose.org.

Last week, Stephen announced that Jimmy had matched Stephen's gift of $26,000 from the proceeds of a Colbert portrait sold at auction. Unfortunately, Stephen did not tell this to Jimmy.

However, Jimmy is very excited to raise the money for DonorsChoose.org and greatly appreciates the work his BFF (for six months) has done on his behalf.

So, as announced on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, if the Fallon / Colbert Project can raise $26,000 by this Friday April 1st, Stephen Colbert has graciously agreed to sing Rebecca Black's "Friday" accompanied by the Roots.

Please donate! And thank you so much!

This is truly a small token of my appreciation. You have given my advanced art students the power to capture images of their choosing. They have the independence to develop sources that they are interested in pursuing. Some of the subjects are personal still-lifes, some are interested in busy highways and one student has fallen in love with landscapes and is looking at the work of Wolf Kahn. This is all possible because you helped to put a digital camera in the hands of my students.
I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. I hope that when you see the work my students are producing you will feel compelled to assist other art programs across the country.
I can not begin to thank you enough for your generous donation to my project and to my students. The picture frames that you donated have given my students the opportunity to display their photos and their writing, and have truly helped to inspire them to create beautiful work. Knowing that their work will be exhibited for all to see has pushed them to create work that they didn't even know they were capable of creating. It has given them confidence and a sense of pride in their work! What a priceless gift!
Our school, and our state, is continuing to face the worst budget situation that any of us have ever seen. Without your help, my students, along with hundreds of thousands of other students in California would be suffering in classrooms with little to no resources.
On behalf of my students, and all of the teachers working hard for our kids, I want to thank you so much for supporting us by donating to our projects here on Donor's Choose. ”
Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. The laptop, listening center, and projector cart have been a great addition to our classroom and are used daily. We've used them to read books on tape, create PowerPoint, and do research on the Internet. You touch our lives daily through your gift.
My school is a Title I school and does not have the budget for additional technology. Without your help, my classroom would not have these resources.
Thank you so much for choosing to support my classroom project, "Manipulating Music". I am overjoyed to have this project funded!
We have done so much with the set of musical die cuts already! We have used these notes to make musical flashcards and posters of our favorite songs so that we could learn to read, sing, and play instruments. The music die cuts have also made it easier for students to create their own songs by moving the paper notes around to form new rhythms. This week my second grade class used the notes to write their own verses to the song "Mary Wore Her Red Dress" and my fifth graders used the new flashcards we made to practice pitches on their recorders! And since we can make an unlimited number of notes from these die cuts my students will have these experiences for years to come!
Your help has made it possible for my students to have a more rewarding musical experience by providing them with a set of music die cuts which we can use to help us read and make beautiful music! Thank you for your generosity.”
This has been such an amazing experience for my students and I. There are so many of you who so generously donated to our classroom. We feel so fortunate to have been the recipient of your support of the arts in education. The severe budget cuts have made the challenges that we face almost insurmountable. However, you have made this great project possible and we will be forever grateful. Getting these art supplies made for a very happy day around here. My students and I opened the boxes together and they could hardly believe what they were seeing! Pencils ,scissors, paint, paint brushes, poster board, glue, clastics, construction paper and newsprint sat there before us. Now it was time to get creative. The set design project was a hit! The students learned so much and it was all because of you! Thank you so very much for your wonderful support! ”
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! You have no idea how much the aprons are my savior! The students love them and I no longer have any issues with paint ruining any school clothes. Your gift of aprons for these tiny hands has truly been a blessing. I wish I could send each of you a student masterpiece in which they have painted. I will include some pictures of the students and their
paintings. Once again, you truly helped children in need and I want to send out a huge shout out "THANK YOU" to all of you”
Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our school. As we begin the new school year, with a plethora of budget cuts and curriculum related issues, the materials that we were able to purchase because of you will be put to good use.
Already, the TV production class has started to interview new students and staff. Our morning news will include clips of extra-curricular activities in an effort to recognize the contributions of our student athletes and scholars, as well as, those of the dedicated members of the faculty, staff, and community who give of their time to make our school a success and help our students triumph beyond the confines of the classroom.
During these difficult economic times, your generosity is truly inspiring. As a seasoned teacher, it is heartwarming to know that there are so many of you who are willing to support public education and help us take it up a notch.
Once again, we are truly grateful for your support. ”
I am so excited and grateful to your contribution toward art supplies. The creations the students have been making are fabulous. As a campus heavy with English Language Learners, activities that allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and mastery in a non-textual manner are valuable and appreciated.
Thanks to your generosity, our students are not only showing their mastery, but also being allowed to express their creativity and artistic talents. I know you would be proud of the signs, banners, posters, booklets, charts, signs, cartoons, and more that have been created by our students thanks to your generosity and caring.”
Your generosity providing a document camera has made such a difference in my classroom. All students are now able to watch live demonstrations for making artwork as well as images by professionals and students that were basically unavailable for viewing in another format.
A document camera is an invaluable application in any classroom setting but is especially useful for art education. Demonstrations are so much more useful with a large number of students because every single student can see details and nuances as they happen. Additionally, as a teacher, I have full view of all students and can monitor student comprehension and interest.
Challenging art techniques are so much easier to follow now that students can view an enlarged image: linoleum cutting, maquettes (small models for sculpture), working with clay, watercolor, and transfer printmaking.
Students also have been introduced to this new technology as most of the classrooms in our school do not have document cameras. Some students are familiar with document cameras and have demonstrated to me (as well as to the other students) additional options and use of the equipment. Other teachers, staff and administration have expressed an interest in the expanded range of activities this exceptional new technology offers.
Perhaps the most valuable educational feature of the document camera you provided is that students are able to conduct a demonstration for the class. Their creations are projected in a huge format for everyone to see. What a great way to inspire confidence, provide an example of student competence and engage everyone's attention in a positive educational activity.
My students and I can't thank you enough for our new document camera!!!”
Thank you everyone for all of your donations to provide the projector for our class! We have used it extensively since we received it: in presentations we have done for the students, presentations the students have done to the class, and at special events we have had outside of the school. It is very portable, which has come in handy. Unfortunately we aren't able to caption the pictures that were uploaded, but you can see the projector and students in action. Because of the generous donations by people like you we are able to provide the education that the students deserve. Please keep donating, we appreciate you all so much!”
With gratitude,
Mr. J.
