Stop, Hey, What's That Sound? We Need Sound Box Boards!
Funded Jan 17, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my project for sound box boards! My students are using these daily in our reading intervention groups. These boards have been a tremendous help with reading, and especially with spelling! Students use the magnets to break up the sounds in words and then spell the word below the magnets in the boxes. Since these boards are dry erase, we get to use them over and over again!
Whenever I get out the sound box boards for my students to use, they cheer! They are so motivated to practice reading and spelling words when they get to use these hands-on manipulatives.
Thank you so much for helping to add joy and excitement into my reading intervention classroom. We are so grateful for your support!”

We Choose Chapter Books! - Part 2
Funded Dec 18, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom project! The students were thrilled when they heard the news that we would be receiving new chapter books. When the box arrived and I started pulling out the books, they were all begging to start reading them!
These books have greatly added to our classroom library. Students have high-interest books to read every day during our reading workshop time. The series books are especially popular! Several students have chosen to start reading the first book in a series and continue in order until the end of the series.
Thank you for helping me to instill a love of reading in my third graders! We are so very grateful!”

Bridging Home and School with Take Home Bags!
Funded Oct 13, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom project! These take home bags have helped tremendously with keeping my students organized. The take home bags are used to store each child's guided reading book, any reading assignments, and math flash cards. The bags are taken home for practice and then returned to school each day. Thanks to these bags, my students always know where their materials are. A ton of time has been saved each day just by making this small change!
Parents in my classroom have also commented on how nice the take home bags are and how much they help keep everything organized while working on homework. Thank you again for helping to support my students and classroom. We are so very grateful!”

Growing Our Fantastic Elastic Brains!
Funded Aug 30, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donations to our third grade classroom. These growth mindset books have been a huge hit in our classroom! Every Monday morning, we have something called "Mindset Monday" where we read one of our new books and discuss it. The kids look forward to this every week and remind me if I forget to do it!
By using these books every week, my students have learned so much about their brain and how it works. They've learned that to grow their brain, it takes hard work and perseverance. I can't tell you how many times I've referenced the ideas in these books throughout the year.
Again, thank you so much for supporting my classroom and encouraging the growth mindset in my students!”

Tech-y Teaching!
Funded Sep 18, 2014Thank you so much for the iPad that you helped to donate to our classroom. My students were thrilled when it arrived in the mail and couldn't wait to start using it! This iPad has completely transformed the teaching and learning in our classroom.
We use the iPad on a daily basis for numerous activities. During reading workshop, the kids take turns playing games to help them with math facts, word study, and reading. In Science and Social Studies, I am able to pull up educational videos and apps on our Smartboard for the entire class to see. The most exciting use for the iPad so far has been in Science. The students are currently researching about wasted resources (paper, soap, paper towels, etc.) in our school. They collected data around our school and are making videos and a presentation that they will show the entire school this coming Friday. The kids created the videos themselves around the school using the iPad. They have been so engaged during this project and I know much of this engagement is due to using the iPad!
Again, I want to thank you for all of your generous donations to our classroom. We truly appreciate it!”

Document Camera Desired!
Funded Oct 20, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom project. My students were so excited when the document camera arrived! We had to set it up right away and start trying it out. This document camera has been such a great tool in our classroom. We've used it for many different topics this year- studying our eggs that will soon be hatching into chicks, looking at maps close up, finding evidence in the text when answering questions, and learning how to play games. This camera allows me to enlarge materials so that all of my students can see what I am teaching.
Thank you again for helping my students through the gift of this document camera. We greatly appreciate it!”

Teaching With Technology
Funded Sep 9, 2013Thank you so much for your donations to this project. My students were thrilled to receive all of these computer games in the mail! We had to try them out right away on our class SMARTboard. These games allow my students to practice what they're learning in a fun and interactive way.
Not only do we use these computer games on the SMARTboard, but also on our individual student computers. The kids can't wait until it's their day to play on the computers! Bubble Math is one of their favorites and it helps them to practice their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.
Again, thank you so much for your generosity. My students and I appreciate it greatly!”

Learning the "Write" Way!
Funded Oct 1, 2013Thank you so much for helping to provide these writing resources for our classroom! My students were absolutely thrilled when the boxes arrived with our clipboards and privacy boards. They were begging to start writing workshop just so that they could use them!
These resources have improved my students' motivation during writing workshop. With the privacy boards, they are less distracted and able to stay focused on their own writing. They really enjoy having their own personal space while writing. The clipboards allow my students to move around the room instead of writing just at their desk. This helps to motivate them because they are now able to get comfortable while working on a story.
Again, thank you so much for your generous donations. My students and I greatly appreciate these new writing materials!”

Mrs. Morrison
