It is a wonderful way to provide independence and enjoyment for reading at this young age. In my classroom I hope to use the Yoto with cards made by readers from the school, from home and later in the year with cards made by readers in our classroom. \r\nA single card can be programmed with multiple tracks, each reading aloud a story from the given collection. As the year progresses, I hope to make my library interesting and diverse for the children, including favorite authors, holidays, and SEL picture books. \r\n\r\n","proposalURL":"project/listening-to-literature-for-littles/10356073/","hasReceivedDonations":true,"hasBeenFunded":true,"matchMultiplier":"2X","location":"Trumbull, CT","id":10356073,"title":"Listening to Literature for Littles"},{"profilePhotoURL":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9088162_orig.jpg?crop=399,399,x414,y440&width=136&height=136&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1688129656378","schoolName":"South High School","costToComplete":123.46,"teacherId":9088162,"hideDetails":false,"teacherName":"Mr. Dickinson","numDonors":2,"numStudents":50,"fulfillmentTrailer":"Help me give my students sporting items to be active, healthy, aid in physical instruction, and participate in sports to be successful.","totalPrice":173.46,"povertyLevel":"More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households","essay":"The students work hard and do their best to gain knowledge and prepare to be productive citizens in the community. They study diligently and challenge themselves to be successful. Some students come from other countries and are bringing culture to our school and society. The students come from all different backgrounds.\r\n\r\nThe volleyballs, soccer balls, baseballs, and softballs will aid in physical instruction, help students in sports, and give the students the ability to stay active and fit in sports. The students will play sports with this equipment and receive physical instruction. This will help the children to be ready to learn math, reading, science, and social studies. Being physical and healthy are vital to being successful in society. Sports improve the students' learning. We will use these items to help the children play sports and be healthy. My students receive both free breakfast and lunch. It is very exciting working in the inner city because you are really helping these kids in so many ways to succeed. The district while they would like to help with supplies for our classrooms just do not have the money. I know that my families love their children and would love to help out, but many of them can not.\r\n\r\nWe are in desperate need of a foam rug, I do a lot of lessons where we all sit on the floor and students explore learning using manipulatives, work together on projects, or just sit on the floor to read, a foam rug is more comfortable and is easily cleaned if someone gets sick.\r\n\r\nWe have had a regular rug but it is not comfortable but more importantly when a student gets sick on it it needs to be removed and dry cleaned so we go without. We really love sitting on the rug to do work, share ideas, and have conversations about ideas and strategies. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to Trenton with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of Hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish. Many of our students, both native and non-native to Trenton, struggle to meet basic needs each day. This means that it is extra important for us to provide them with both essential items that they can access at any time and exciting extracurricular opportunities. Their social/emotional well-being and mental health depend on knowing that they are free to use basic needs items that will not run out and that they have coaches willing to support them as they strive to meet their goals!\r\n\r\nThe shoes I am requesting will provide our track and field students with the necessary basic needs for success both on and off the track.\r\n\r\nThese shoes will go a long way in ensuring our students have exciting extracurricular sporting opportunities that support their social-emotional learning and mental health needs. I am requesting these shoes for students in need who have just arrived in our country.
