My students are a unique and diverse group of learners who have huge hearts yet limited resources and opportunities. Many of my students come from difficult situations and consider school their safe place.
Regardless of the trials they face, my students open their hearts and minds ready to learn each day.
Although my students lack many resources, they use what little they have to master the skills necessary to reach success. Each day, they show determination and overcome many obstacles that not only help them in the classroom, but also help them in life. This gives me hope that they will use each situation they face to reach their fullest potential.
My Project
Our youth are faced with many social and emotional situations today. Some teens may be overcoming the death of a loved one, while others may be battling with deep depression. In many cases, adolescents feel as though no one understands what they are going through.
Whatever the circumstance may be, books about life situations can help young people cope with issues they may be facing and show them they are not alone.
This is just one small way to help students begin to understand some of the problems they are facing and possibly encourage them to open up to someone they trust.
